I have to take a few minutes to brag on my son Brady, who just may very well be the bravest little kid I have ever met! He had some dental work done on Thursday that required conscious sedation. He never once acted nervous and was not at all apprehensive when we got there. He had to drink this orange flavored medicine that made him sleepy and relaxed. He got to hang out in a big beanbag chair and watch a movie. The medicine worked a little too good and after about 20 minutes, I realized he was snoring! The assistant came in and told me it was time and I scooped him up and carried him into the procedure room, got him all comfy, gave him a kiss on the forehead and told him good luck! He slept through the whole thing! The assistant came out and told me he was all done and asked me if I had trouble waking him up in the morning, haha!!! By the time I got back there, he had opened his eyes, sat right up in the chair and got up to leave. He was a little unsteady still (the medicine makes them”drunk”) and we made our way out to the car and back home. 30 minutes after being back home he was up and asking for food, and today he has been running around playing with little sister. He hasn’t complained ONCE about any pain and I haven’t had to give him any pain medicine at all. Just like last year with having the tonsilectomy, he breezed right through this with such bravery it makes me feel silly for the way I acted last year when I had one tooth pulled. Brady ended up having 6 fillings and 2 teeth pulled, with spacers placed to prevent his teeth from shifting. He will have those removed once the permanents come in in about 2-3 years. The spacer appliances look really gnarly and it just about breaks my heart that he had to go through that and will have to have those in place for a few years. He, on the other hand, acts like it was no big deal! I just can’t get over how brave he is and how mature he is with things. Those are incredible qualities to have at such a young age, I hope he never changes. Here is the obligatory photo from yesterday after we got home from the dentist…

I have a feeling the first time he falls and breaks a bone skateboarding he will get up and say ” look at this mom, isnt it cool?!
