Backpacking Weekend @ Enchanted Rock

This past weekend Brady set out on his first backpacking style camping trip with the Scouts. Their destination was Enchanted Rock just outside Fredricksburg. The weather was absolutely perfect and the boys had a blast from what I hear! For the past year he has done base camping only, which means they have more comforts and belongings that they are able to bring with them. This trip required a 2 mile hike into one of the primitive camping areas so everything had to fit on or in his backpack (including a personal arsenal of 1 gallon of water).  He cooked his meals with his new Jet Boil Zip and got to enjoy two nights of warm, comfy sleep in his new backpacking sleeping bag that packs smaller than a football!  They hiked, explored a boulder cave and did some free climbing and repelling off the back side of the main rock dome.  He came home completely worn out but said he could have done another day or two out there. That’s our boy, he could totally live like a mountain man and love it!
